It's about time!
Like seriously, this was overdue but thank God it finally happened.....
The man who designed the Nigerian flag, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi was decorated as an Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, OFR by President Goodluck Jonathan on the 29th of September, 2014.

55-years after designing the flag, Pa Akinkunmi finally gets a recognition. God is good!
Mr President who conferred the title on him also said he will be placed on a lifetime salary that must be in line with what any Senior Special Adviser earns.
Pa Taiwo was born in Ibadan on 10th May, 1936. He is married with a wife and children. He is known for always wearing the color of the flag he designed many years ago as part of his attire. He even painted his house with a green-white-green pattern. Those who know him well calls him Mr Flag Man.
Among those honored at the ceremony which was held at the International Conference Center, Abuja were a taxi driver, Mr Umeh Usuah; a traffic warden, Cpl Solomon Dauda; and a steward, Mr Onuh Isaac Micheal who have all displayed exemplary performance in the discharge of their duties.
All three honorees also got house gifts in the Federal Capital Territory from the president.
