A University of North Carolina professor, Dr. Jeanine Shante Skinner, 35 went to church with her boyfriend, Donny Lewis Franklin, 45, she met on Instagram on Sunday, only to be murdered by him, the following day.
Dr Skinner, who is loved by many was found dead in an apartment in the 9300 block of Kings Parade Boulevard at 11.37am on September second. Police was called to the home to do a welfare check. The police immediately issued an arrest warrant for her-year old boyfriend, Mr Franklin.
According to the police, Franklin has been convicted of violent crimes in the past, including domestic abuse.
Skinner was an assistant professor of gerontology(the scientific study of aging) and psychology.
Authorities say that Skinner's body was badly battered when discovered.
Franklin has since been arrested and charged with the murder.
