AIT Reporter Detained On Orders Of AIG Mbu Has Been Released!!!

African Independent Television (AIT) senior correspondent, Amaechi Anakwe who was detained yesterday on the orders of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police, Joseph Mbu for referring to him as "controversial" on a TV program has been released on bail. AIT who called for his immediate released shortly after he was detained released a statement this morning......

"Detained AIT senior correspondent, Amaechi Anakwe, has been released on bail by AIG zone 7, Joseph Mbu. He was however asked to return to the station on Friday. It would be recalled that the reported was arrested by Joseph Mbu yeaterday for describing him as "controversial" on a television program. In a swift reaction to his arrest, the management of DAAR Communication Plc, owners of AIT, had yesterday unequivocally demanded the unconditional and immediate release of it's reporter from police custody"

So this man was detained for what? (Somebody please remind me again)....lol. This can only happen in Nigeria. Whatever happened to freedom of speech and expression.... Mbu needs to be called to order. He really has no business being the AIG! What a power-drunk son of a gun!
