All hail the queen!!! She is a fourth degree black belt in the Korean martial art of taekwando and yes, she kicked every other contestant to the curb and took the crown all the way from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Nevada......
The 24 years old from Las Vegas beat 50 other beauty queens to become the 63rd Miss USA on Sunday night. The crown was handed over by Miss USA 2013, Erin Brady.
"I am so excited, it's a dream come true" she said
Miss Sanchez will go on to represent the US at the Miss Universe competition later in the year...
Florida George Line and Nelly were chosen to perform their hit 'Cruise' live during the swim suit competition. Also on the musical act for the night was Latin pop band, Camila.
Combined with her bikini strut and her evening gown prowess, Sanchez prove to have the winning answer when Judge Rumer Willis asked about recent reports regarding sexual violence on college campuses, and what sort of policy should be implemented to combat the disturbing statistics....
"I believe that some colleges may potentially be afraid of having bad reputation and that would be a reason it could be swept under the rug, because they don't want that to come out into the public" Sanchez said confidently.
"But i think more awareness is very important so women can learn how to protect themselves" she added. "Myself as a fourth-degree black belt, I learned from a young age that you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself. And i think that's something that we should try to really implement for a lot of women"
The first runner up, Audra Mari said she overcame being bullied in high school by competing in ice hockey.
The Fargo, North Dakota native wore a green floor length evening gown and in her final interview, talked about the importance of getting an education and going to college.
Mari will take over if for any reason, Sanchez is unable to fulfill the responsibilities that come with the title.
Congratulations to Nia Sanchez, Miss USA 2014!!!!
