Her death penalty was overturned by an appeal court, the official Suna news agency has reported.
Merian who is married to a Christian was sentenced under 'Shariah' law to death, for turning away from Islam and refusing to renounce her Christian faith.
Her husband, a US citizen said he is looking forward to seeing her and can't wait to get his family out of Sudan.
"We are very happy about this, and we're going to her now" Mrs Ibrahim's lawyer, Elshareef Ali told BBC. "They have released her,
she's on her way home" He also said that Mrs Ibrahim had shown "extraordinary" courage during her ordeal.
"It's a victory for freedom of religion in Sudan, by Meriam's strong position, we believe that in the future, no one would be subjected to such a trial" he said
Over a million people took action showing the Sudan authorities that people around the world were outraged by Meriam's ordeal, at the end, common sense prevailed...thank you Lord!
