One of the world's richest women and Chairman of FamFa oil, Mrs Folusho Alakija has revealed that she never went to a University. Speaking with the students of the University of Lagos at the 2014 UN International Youths Day in Lagos on August 27, 2014, the billionaire oil tycoon said one does not need university education to make it in life.....

"I come from Ikorodu, Lagos State. I'm married to a dashing young lawyer of 70-years of age and we have four grown-up gentlemen and grand children. It has not been a rag to riches fairy tale. It has not been an overnight phenomenon like some cases which you find here and there all over the world. For as long as i can remember, I had always wanted my own business. Hard-work....I'm trying to tell you how I got to where i am if you want those billions. Mrs Alakija was born in Ikorodu , Lagos Nigeria to the family of Chief L A Ogbara. At the age of seven she traveled to the United Kingdom to begin a four year primary education at Dinorben school for girls in Hafodunos Hall in Llangernyw, Wales. After returning to Nigeria, she attended the Muslim High School, Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria. Afterwards she returned abroad for her secretarial studies at Pitman's Central College, London. She also studied fashion at the American college, London and the central school of fashin. In 1976, she married a lawyer, Modupe Alakija. They reside in Lagao, Nigeria and are blessed with four sons and a grand daughter.
In 2013, Mrs Alakija unseat TV queen, Oprah Winfrey and became the richest woman in the world according to Forbes.
