Destiny Tompkins was a formal employee of the retail company, Banana Republic, who is now suing the retail chain for braids discrimination. The 19-year old says the company is racist because her bosses complained about her "urban" hairstyle.
Shortly after getting the job at the Br in White Plains NY, Miss Tompkins began wearing her hair in braids and this didn't go well with her managers who according to her were pissed off, She was later approached by her white store manager who told her that her braids where "too urban" and "unkept" and did not go with BR's image.
What the heck is too urban?......too black?

Destiny says she refused to change her hairstyle, and was taken off the store's work schedule. While she wasn't officially fired, she effectively was because she, didn't get any shifts.
Destiny says after she vented on Facebook, the company fired the store manager. However, Destiny's suing BR's corporate office, as well as the store and regional managers, for at least $1 million. Get it girl! Make them pay, make them change the rules. They can take your 'black' money but your braids are just a little to black for them?.........What nonsense!!!

We wish you the very best girl!
