Meghan Markle's Royal Coat Of Arms Revealed And It Pays Homage To Her American Roots!!!
I love me some Meghan Markle, or Should I say, I love Her Royal Highness, Meghan Markle....The Duchess of Sussex. Yep! I better get it right.....(winks)!
Less than a week after her wedding to His Royal Highness, Prince Harry - the Duke of Sussex, former actress, Meghan Markle, the new Duchess of Sussex has received an official Coat of Arms and it imagines her as an elegant songbird....Say what????(The elegant songbird who made it to the royal family)?.....Go right ahead girl!!!
The Coat of Arm was approved by no other than the Queen herself......Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms.
It was designed with Duchess of Sussex featuring her most treasured elements from her hometown of California as well as her passion for communication and public speaking. .
See more after the jump!!!
Here is the break down of the the Coat of Arms. It is not completely all about her because by tradition, half of it is devoted to her husband. So, the lion featured on the left is for Harry, whose own royal Coat of Arms features a lion as a supporter. The emblem on the shield relate to different parts of the British Isles and the lion goes back to the House of Stewart in 1603.
The left side on the other hand was where Meghan had a lot of impact and input. She gave it her own personal touch. According to Kensington Palace, the design was both "personal and representative" of Meghan's background with call-outs to her home state of California.
There is a blue and yellow coloring on the right side. The blue reflects the pacific ocean while the yellow represented the sunshine of California. There also three quills which reportedly represents the importance of communication and her power of speech. That's also reflected in the open beak of the songbird that she chose as her supporting shield. The crown on the songbird represents her elevation to the royal family.
The whole Coat of Arms is on a bird of flowers there, which has flowers, the golden poppies are from California and the winter-sweets found in the gardens at Kensington Palace.
Thomas Woodcock, the Garter King of Arms, who worked closely with Meghan on the design of her Coat of Arms said....."The Duchess of Sussex took great interest in the design".
Good heraldic design is nearly always simple and the Arms of the Duchess of Sussex stand well besides the historic beauty of the quartered British Royal Arms.
Congratulations to the American princess; the California girl, on her lovely Coat of Arms.
