Damn! It appears like Nigeria has completely overtaken India to become the poverty capital of the world and sadly there is no hope that this will change any time soon. The situation is predicted to remain like this at least for a generation....(ouch!).
This is according to a recent report which states that Nigeria is a place where you will find the highest number of the world's poorest people. The statistics back in the past, was 86.9-million compared to India's 750-million but recent report by Yomi Kazeem for Quartz Africa states that Nigeria now ranks bottom ---157 of 157 countries in a second ever Commitment to Reducing Inequality Index (CRI) compiled by Development Finance International (DFI) and Oxfam. (Like what???? You have got to be kidding me!).  I remember back in the days when Nigeria's Naira was stronger than dollars in the money market.....Who the heck did this to us?

See more after the jump!!!

The CRI index ranks countries based on their commitments to shrinking the gap between the rich and poor based on social spending, tax policies and labor rights.

It gets even grimmer....
Nigeria also ranked really low--152 of 157 countries on the World Bank first ever Human  Capital Index (HCI). The index according to Quartz measures "the amount of human capital that a child born today can expect to attain by age 18", using five factors: chances of a child reaching age five, healthy growth, expected years of schooling, quality of learning available and the adult survival rate.

Nigeria's HCI values is 0.34 out of a possible 1. What this mean is that "a child born in Nigeria today will be 34% as productive when he or she grows up as he/she could be if he/she enjoys complete education and full health"

My gosh! Which way, Nigeria? Help us Lord.
