Words are very powerful. Once it is put out there, it is totally impossible to take it back. You might be able to "butter" it up a little bit but folks will always believe whatever they think you meant with your statement. That is why we have to be careful what we say and how we say it---To borrow from the Miranda right....'Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law' (as well as in the court of public opinion....my own words)!!!

Nigeria's President, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari is finding this out the hard way! His words are being twisted and used against him. While addressing Nigerians in South Africa on Tuesday, President Buhari said....

"How I wish I became the Head of state when I was a governor, just a few years as a young man. now at 72, there is a limit to what i can do"

This words are coming back to hunt him as a group within the Nigeria's opposition party, Peoples Democratic party (PDP) are calling for his resignation....according to Premium Times!

See more after the jump!!!

PDP leader Tunde Lawal

Premium Times is reporting that In a statement signed by it's head, Tunde Lawal, a PDP group said the APC and president Buhari are a gang of hypocrites and liars. Please read below:

"The PDP is again vindicated by this confession from president Muhammadu Buhari and many more that are yet to come. Nigerians will recall that during the presidential campaign, the PDP and other well meaning Nigerians complained on the choice of sponsoring Pa Muhammadu Buhari as Presidential Candidate for APC and the effect it will have on the country when it comes to managing the affairs of a multi dimensional nation like Nigeria, but, the APC and it's leaders said that age is just a number.

"It's barely three weeks into the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and his age is already telling on him, so, what will happen to Nigeria in the remaining 1,440 days of this government? It is better to find a black goat in the day time rather than looking for it in the night and this is why we are asking President Buhari to resign now because Nigerians will not entertain further excuses of why APC can not deliver on their campaign promises," the group said.

President Muhammadu Buhari

The group cited another mistake of the president---when he referred to the president of Germany as president of West Germany, and blamed it on his age....

"Nigerians saw this all along during the campaigns but could not resist the broom stick voodoo that the APC used to hypnotize the people. Nigerians will also recall that this same Pa. Buhari could not remember the complete name of his Vice Presidential Candidate and even the full name of his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) under which platform he was contesting and instead referred to it as the All Progressive Confidence during the campaigns. how long will a nation like Nigeria, the giant of Africa remain under this hypnosis of the APC." the group queried

APC Leaders at the National level

However a  few hours ago, the APC leaders issued a statement from the State House President Buhari's statement was taking out of context. Here is part of the statement.....

"Extolling the virtue of our country, Nigeria, the president, who had served as a military governor of the then North-Eastern state at 33-years old, declared: "I wish I became Head of State when I was a governor. Now, at 72, there is a limit to what I can do"

The above comment have been reported by some newspapers to mean that the president was saying he was too old to cope with the demands of his office. Far from it. As the saying goes, "Old wines are tasty" and the president Buhari we have today is a man, like old wine that has got tastier. At 72, yes, he can't be called a youth, but he has in quantum the wisdom, the patience, temperance and forbearance that age brings. And all these virtues he has brought to the presidency, to make a difference in our national life"

Please stop it already PDP and let President Buhari breath! Daamn! The man hasn't even spent a month in office and y'all want him out. PMB won an election, for goodness sake, give him a chance! I am so sorry to break this to you....When you wake up in the morning tomorrow, His excellency Muhammadu Buhari will still be the Executive President and Commander in chief of Nigeria's Armed forces, so get used to it. He is a man of integrity who is more concerned about leaving a lasting legacy, so let him be. If fails to deliver on his promises, you have the right to vote him out in four years, until that happen, stop putting so much energy into finding faults....#JustSaying! God Bless Muhammadu Buhari! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
