America's treasure, Queen Latifah is mourning the loss her dear mother, Ms Rita Owens. The actress and talk show host, announced the passing of "the love of her life" on her Instagram page as well as on a short interview with People's Magazine.
As you probably already know, the Queen has been very vocal about her mom's long battle with heart disease and, sadly the battle ended for her on Wednesday, 21st of 2018.
It's especially tough on the queen of rap music, because she lost her brother many years ago in a horrific motor bike accident and her mother was all she had. Our hearts go out to her at this difficult time.

"It is with a heavy heart that I share the news my mother, Rita Owens passed away [Wednesday]," the statement read. "Anyone that has ever met her knows what a bright light she was on this earth. She was gentle, but strong, sweet, but sassy, worldy but pragmatic, a woman of great faith and certainly the love of my life."
