Gospel Singer Shirley Caesar Receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star!!!



Pastor Shirley Caesar, member of the famed gospel group The Caravans and a powerhouse soloist in her own right, received her Hollywood Walk of Fame Star on June 28. 
“Today, we are honoring the reigning queen of gospel music,” said Leron Gubler, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which controls the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as he introduced Caesar.
 “She is a woman known as a music trailblazer who has influenced a wide range of artist across numerous genres. Her career has made an indelible mark on America music and the sounds of gospel.”

The 77-year-old gospel trailblazer has won 11 Grammys, 18 Doves and 14 Stellar Awards, among other accolades. 

“I am so proud to be called a daughter of Dr. Shirley Cesar because without her there would be no me,” said gospel singer Yolanda Adams at the ceremony

She added, “I got a chance to see what excellence and action really is every day of my gospel career and that is Dr. Shirley Caesar.”




Caesar has released more than 40 albums including a 2016 album titled, “Fill This House.” Some of her gospel hits include “No Charge,” “Hold My Mule,” and “Sweeping through the City.”
“You are such a beast at what you do. Save some for the young people; save some for this generation,” joked gospel singer Kirk Franklin at the ceremony. He added, “We love you, but you’re our No. 1 competition.”
In 2000, Caesar was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
“Never even in my wildest imagination I would have fathomed in my mind growing up in Durham, N.C., that one day my name would be enshrined in a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Unimaginable… But God…,” said Caesar during her acceptance speech.
