Beautiful and talented actress Zendaya Coleman is on the cover of the latest edition of Essence Magazine.
It will be recalled that a week ago the actress who is no stranger to "Clapping Back" slammed a twitter user for making insensitive r*pe joke.
In the tweet which has since been deleted, he featured Zedaya, Beyonce, Rhianna and Nicki Minaj with the caption
"If the purge was real who y'all r*ping?"
Zedaya didn't find that funny! She hit back at the guy real hard and then prayed for him to find sense.
Well in this August edition of the Essence Magazine, the Disney star, talks about being a role model, standing in her truth and standing up to her haters.
See more after the jump!!!
On Standing up to her hater....
"When i talk to people about (standing up for myself), it's not new. It's not something i just started doing. I just did it in public and more people saw it than usual"
On how she learned to speak her mind...
So where did this willingness to speak her mind came from? Zendaya credited her parents who both taught in the Oakland School District and made it a point to teach her respectability politics.
"With her being my daughter, I want her to feel like she's empowered by having an opinion on life" her mother Claire Stoermer said.
"I don't want her or any of my children to feel like they have to be a part of a status quo and go along with the tide"
On being a role model....
You've got to realize those Twitter followers, those kids who watch you, that's technically power. So, to me, I have a responsibility or a duty to the people who watch me to promote positive things, or to show them positive things, or to enlighten them"
