Singer Erykah Badu is being dragged on the social media for her comments on R kelly, live from his Chi-Town breeding grounds.
During a live performance at the Aragon Ballroom on Saturday, January 19th, the neo-soulstress took a moment to share her thoughts on the accused sexual predator and disgraced R&B singer following the industry's docu-series "Surviving R. Kelly"
Badu began her statement with a disclaimer of sorts, letting everyone know early on that her sentiments would largely deviate from the majority....
“I don’t know how everybody else feel about it but I’m putting up a prayer right now for [R. Kelly],” she said among a crowd of confused fans, who quickly began expressing their vexation. “I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things that we’ve seen on TV and heard those ladies talk about. I hope he sees the light of day and comes forward.”
As Fat Belly Bella continued her proclamation, the agitation only grew louder, as concert goers booed, hissed and hollered in rejection of her words of “peace and light” for the Pied Piper. ‘THEY ‘BOUT TO R. KELLY ME TO DEATH ON THE INTERNET,’ Erykah said somewhere else in her comments.
See more after the jump!!!
Badu has since tried to clarify her comments......“I just want peace and light for everybody and healing for those who are hurt because everyone involved has been hurt, victimized in some kinda way. Love for everybody.”
The crowd's reaction did not stop Erykah from voicing the rest of her opinion on the matter, however. “What y’all say—‘f**k it?’ That’s not love,” she continued. “That’s not unconditional love. But what if one of the people that was assaulted by R. Kelly grows up to be an offender, we gonna crucify them? I mean how do we do this? Just something to think about.”

No matter how much damage control Badu is trying to make, she is finding out it's too little too late as fans continue to troll her on Twitter. Some even threatening to boycott her and her shows. Here are some of the NoChill tweets below.....
Cardi B is dragging racists!
Erykah Badu is supporting R. Kelly!

U ALWAYS on the wrong side of shit, defending a chronic statutory rapist? Don’t u have a daughter as well? U need to be cancelled right along with that pissy ass nigga Kels. @fatbellybella
I’m finally understanding why so many hotep men who project toxic masculinity look to Erykah Badu cuz sis doesn’t speak for women, she speaks for them. She’s a false intellectual that’s hidden behind ditzy words and chakra crystals.
If you not for black girls, I’m not for you.
If you not for black girls, I’m not for you.
Y’all gotta stop touting Erykah Badu as some ethereal muva earth bitch. The veil been down. Her thought processes are violent. I feel sorry for her daughters
Hope R. Kelly was worth Erykah Badu’s career. Don’t bring you ass back to Detroit with all those tired ass songs. We don’t want you no more .
Erykah Badu saying she still loves R Kelly doesn’t shock me. This is the same woman who saw “something good in Hitler”....
Erykah Badu is the reason why phrases like “looks can be deceiving” exist. Y’all thought she was the woke queen just because she wear head wraps and hipster teeth. Nah fam, she been a rape apologist bird for a min now.
Me canceling Erykah Badu after she tried to defend RKelly. #MuteRKelly
