Kechi Okwuchi was 16-years old in 2005 when she survived a plane crash in Nigeria that killed 107 people, including her close friend who was seating next to her in the flight.
Kechi was one of the two survivors in the ill fated Sosoliso plane crash.
Medical treatment at The Shriners Hospital in Galveston, Texas brought her to the US. She was burned over most of her body and had more than 100 surgeries, including skin grafts.
Doctors placed pins to support her hands.
Kechi would go on to graduate from The University of Saint Thomas. Not only did she bag a degree in Economics and Marketing she also won the chance to deliver the commencement speech at the graduation ceremony in 2015.

According to Kechi, after the harrowing experience, music became her escape as she lay on her hospital bed, bandaged head to foot, not being able to move. Kechi continues to inspire us all and she recently took her musical talent to the 2017 edition of the America's Got Talent Show where she wowed the judges and brought the audience up on their feet.
