EKITI CRISIS: Gun Man Kills Governor-Elect, Ayo Fayose' Security Co-Ordinator, Governor Fayemi Imposes Curfew On State!!!



The co-ordinator of the personal security of the Ekiti Governor-Elect, Mr Ayo Fayose, Mr, Omolafe Aderiye was shot dead Thursday night by yet to be identified gun men.

Aderiye, who was the former state chairman of the National Union Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) was reportedly shot while eating with a group of friends at Ijigbo area the state capital.

Sources said his assassins were dressed in mobile police uniform with bullet proof vest. Aderiye, a staunch supporter of Ayo Fayose, who took active part in his campaign co-ordination, was shot multiple times and was killed on the spot.




The chief press secretary to Mr Fayose, Mr Idowu Adelusi confirmed the incident....."It is true, he was killed at about 8.30pm while he was eating with friends. He was shot severally with a pump action riffle.

"He took effective participation in the co-ordination of security arrangement during our last campaign. His death is very unfortunate". Mr. Aderiye's remains have bean reportedly deposited at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.






Responding to the crisis in Ekiti, the state governor, His Excellency Kayode Fayemi has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on all areas of the state.

"I have taking the decision to institute a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the state immediately. Accordingly, there will be no movement between the hours of 7pm to 7am everyday till further notice" the governor said in Ado Ekiti, the state capital while addressing journalist today.

The governor who has suspended his 'thank you' tour of the state, also directed the Attorney General of the state to issue a legal advisory to the Chief Judge of the state and all the parties to the existing cases in the State High Court and the Ekiti State Governorship Election Tribunal, on the desirability of seeking an alternative venue for the hearing of these cases outside Ekiti State.

"The state can no longer afford to witness the bizarre spectacle of the beating up of judicial officers and wanton intimidation of lawyers and court personnel" Governor Fayemi said.
