Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Philadelphia on Sunday to celebrate a street festival that may make people feel like they are visiting Africa. Odunde, rooted in the festivals of the Yoruba people of Nigeria in West Africa has grown enormously as a Philadelphia tradition since it's shoestrings 1975 start.
The Philly based tradition for four decades, is the largest African-American street festival in the U.S. Among the dignitaries at this year's event is the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and his wife, Olori Wuraola. The King and his queen had a chance to meet Mama Fenandez, the woman who started this tradition in Philadelphia 41-years ago.
